Kring kursen som var en distanskurs med föreläsningar, en utmärkt kursbok Photography A culural History, kursmaterial, föreläsningar och en rad roliga och intressanta bilduppgifter som skulle besvaras genom webben i DSV Stockholm regi.
Det fanns även ett Help Forum. En webbplats som bra mycket påminde om ett chattforum för studenter och där oftast lärarna lyste med sin frånvaro. På forumet kunde det ibland dyka upp mycket kärnfulla formuleringar som uttryckte studenternas desperation. Kursens språk var engelska och utropen färgas av detta.

Som sig bör startade kursen med diverse desperata utrop på hjälpforumet.
Är inte all god konstnärlig verksamhet och skapande granne med kaos?
En av de första uppgifterna var att göra en pinhole camera, typ väldigt enkel barnkamera utan objektiv! Sånt kan vara knepigt i de mobila och digitala kamerornas tid.
Man saknar helt enkelt lins som går att ta bort!

I just have a
digital pocket camera so I believe I have the same problem. I'm not sure,
is it possible to remove the lense of such cameras, generally?

I have the same problem as i mentioed earlier.
I am not in sweden right now, and have been trying to look around to borrow one,
although havent found.
Maybe there is some possibilty to rent a camera I will go and see.
But otherwise I have to unfortunately complete the assignment later on,
since I know I can borrow one from a friend in sweden.

Seems like we are a bunch of people who only have access to
digital-cameras

Timezone mistake

I did a mistake when calculating the differences
between the time zones from Sweden to Washington DC - so assignment 2a was
published almost an hour after the deadline. I did still publish it as a blogpost but I couldn't connect
it to the assignment (I did connect it to the course and to my group). I am
very sorry that I messed up the schedule. Would it be
possible for me to still get this assignment graded and to be assigned another
students material to assess?

Quick question!
I have now read all of the three chapters in A Cultural
History that was required for Assignment 1A,
although I am only on page 97. In the instructions it said 1-66 (depending on edition),
could it be so that my edition (ISBN 9780205708000) is so differen in numbering the pages?
If I turn page it's clerarly says "Capther Four - Imaging Of The Social World".
And that isn't the material for 1 A right?

Hi, I have a
third edition of Photography: A cultural history.
It is a very large edition and i'm usure if they are all the same size.
My chapter 3 finishes on page 97. Last chapter ficish witj portrait by Julia Margaret Cameron.
I can see on our assignment that it states that chapter 3 should finish around page 166.
Is is chaper 3 and not part 3 we should finish with?

So I solved the
puzzle myself.
The entire post has to be loaded prior to commenting.

Yes, this
problem is amplified as some people are forgetting to scale down
their images before uploading. So some posts take a very long time to load…

PS Vill bara tillägga om nu händelsevis några blivande studenter läser det här att kursen Digital Photography är en mycket trevlig, intressant, rolig och spännande kurs. Undertecknad tycker sig dessutom ha haft riktig tur när det gäller ämnen för våra uppgifter - kunde nästan ses som skräddarsydda för Kistalight! Bedömningarna och omdömena av lärarna var helt okej för min del även om dom tog en hel del tid för lärarna att rätta dem. Tror att lärarna på de mer konstnärliga momenten skulle tjäna på att upprätta en mall enligt mål och riktlinjer för kursen för sina bedömningar. Kanske något för kommande kurser? För kommande studenter rekommenderas måttligt läsande och skrivande av inlägg på Help Forum. Inlägg som lätt blir ena riktiga energitjuvar - lita på ditt eget omdöme och förmåga.
Nu passar vi på med en sammanfattning av Kistalights egna bloggar inspirerade av kursen toppat med några favoritbilder.

This portal is making my head explode

I know that this is an annoying comment and it may
seem pointless but I'm hoping that maybe it could also be read as constructive
feedback.
For the second time today, I lost a post I had been
working on for over and hour. Admittedly it was my own fault that I hadn't
saved my work but I find it quite frustrating to not be able to copy/paste from
a document I could save also for my own records. I'm using mozilla and have
tried many times to follow the instructions given to sort out the copy/pasting
problem, but I've not succeeded. I'm not a computer wizard and I should
remember to save whatever I do on here but the system is quite fiddly and I
find it's quite easy to accidentally move to another page.
If any of this could be fixed I'd be very happy and if
not, I'll get the work done anyway and can report that I generally find the
system clear and easy to use. Rant over.
Avslutning - Help Forum
Tror vi slutar här med exempel från vårt Help Forum i kursen. Den avslutande kärnfulla This Portal Making My Head Explode är nog så talande. Lösningen på problemen där var att välja rätt plattform Window och rätt webbläsare, både Mozilla och Firefox hade prövats men det funkade utmärkt med Google Chrome!
Något som inte nog tydliggjordes i Portalen var behovet av en lärare eller flera. Någon som fanns till hands, kunde lugna ned när frågorna drog iväg åt typ hållet desperation. Någon som kunde ge exakta praktiska svar om vilka sidor och texter som skulle läsas. Någon som kunde ge exempel på vad som var realistiskt att göra - teaching och inte minst!
Inte lämna studenterna i ett webbens tomrum med sina frågor och behov. Helpforum som Kinesiska muren eller Se spännande essä om Googlemaps Help Forum!
Kort slutsats alltså!
